Gold Severum (Heros severus) Gold Morph Species Profile:
Common Name: Gold Severum (Heros severus) Gold Morph
Species name: Heros severus (Gold Morph)
Species Group: Cichlid
Origin: Originally from the Amazon Basin, though this Gold variety is a popular captive-bred color morph developed for the hobby.
Maximum Size: Approx 20cm – 25cm
Diet: Gold Severums are hearty omnivores. They should be fed a high-quality cichlid pellet as their staple. They particularly enjoy "greens," so frequent supplements of blanched peas, spinach, or zucchini are highly recommended. For protein, they love occasional treats of bloodworms, Mysis shrimp, or our TNT Brine Shrimp Blast.
Ideal Water temp: 24-28°C
PH: 6.0 -> 7.5
Temprement:
Commonly known as the "Poor Man’s Discus," Gold Severums are prized for their calm and personable nature. They are among the more peaceful large cichlids, making them fantastic centerpieces for community tanks. While they are generally docile, they can become territorial during spawning and may accidentally swallow very small "bite-sized" tank mates (like tiny neon tetras) as they reach full size.
TNT Notes:
